A Gold color metal and enamel device 1 1/8 inches (2.86 cm) in height overall consisting of a shield blazoned as follows: "Azure, an isosceles triangle Gules capped Argent, surmounted by a lightning flash Tenné and a pickaxe saltirewise Sable, handle detailed Or, all fimbriated of the like, overall a dagger palewise blade and hand guard of the third, gripped Vert, detailed of the sixth; a canton of the seventh, edged and charged with a fleur-de-lis all within a bordure Gold.” Attached below the device an Ultramarine Blue motto scroll inscribed in Gold letters, "STEADFAST ABOVE ALL.”
